How much I will spend for my Holidays in Bali?

To be Honest I will tell you how much I spend per month for living in Bali:

An average of 5-6 millions Rupiah/ month = 400-500 euros /months

Housing          2 000 000 Rp/ month

It is a Kost in Jimbaran well located, easy to get to great places like padang-padang, Uluwatu, Bingin, Balangan and not far from Kuta. there is no Hot Water but it’s clean, quiet and I can cook.

Food             1 000 000 Rp/ month

I love indonesian Food and I love cooking.That’s why my budget is not so high. I go sometimes to some european restaurant If I miss western food.

Transportation  700 000 Rp/month

I have a motorbike that is the cheapest way to circulate in Bali.A motorbike rental is around 550 000 Rp/month, or 30 000 Rp/day. For the Fuel I spend 150 000/month.

Leisure                   1 500 000 Rp/month

I love surf, drinking some beers, having a massage and  go out sometimes.

Others                     500 000 Rp/month

It is including Laundry, parking fee or some expanses for my place.

This is an average of how much I spend in Bali. But you have to know that I speak Indonesian so I can lower prices.Also I am not in Holiday like you will be that means that I stay at stay at the same place during one month.

Enough Spoken about my Budget. Let’s see yours:

It really depends on what kind of holidays you want to spend in Bali. In fact people that loves party have to have some money in their pocket for enjoying the nightlife, people that are planning to have relaxing holidays in a great hotel not far from a beach will spend more in accommodation, etc.

I will give you some prices indicator by Categories:

 

Accommodations in Bali:

 

Losmen:

The cheapest accommodations that you can find in Indonesia. It’s a small bedroom with maybe a bathroom outside.It can be also dirty, and noisy.There are many losmen in Kuta area and Sanur. It ‘s a place for back papers that have a tight budget for travelling. I have tested it and it’s not awful as we can imagine because in Bali you live most of the time outside.

Prices : 50 000-75 000 Rupiah / Night

Kost:

There is plenty choices for a Kost. This is the most popular way of having a roof upon your head for young people. This is a single Bedroom with sometimes a small living room or/and a kitchen. You have neighbors with a similar room but in most of the places the atmosphere is good.You can have a swimming pool, AC, TV and a Cooking place.Many various Prices depending on the Location and the conditions. In touristic area they don’t really practice a month pricing. But you can have really good price if they do.

Prices:  From 1 000 000Rp/month to 3 500 000Rp/month

 from 125 000 Rp/night to 400 000Rp/night

Hotels:

Many Hotels in Bali practice various prices from 1 star to 5 stars for sure you can find a list of prices on websites specialized in Hotels. Some are really well located with a wonderful view straight out to the sea with swimming pool and all the things that you need. Most of them has a great balinese style and you will for sure enjoy a great stay.

Prices: From 250 000Rp/night to 6 000 000Rp/night and maybe more.

Villas:

many villas for rent spreads in Bali with different size you can rent it per night, per week , per month or per year. There are huge villas with two swimming pool for turists that have the budget. Rent a villa is great if you come with friends or family. But you have to know that most of the time you won’t rent the villa directly with the owner in fact many people rent a villa for a year and propose a rent per week or per day. So you can easily imagine that there is margin on margin. the north of Bali got really wonderful villas for more than a reasonable price.

Prices: 1 000 000 Rp/night to 10 000 000 Rp/night.

If you are lucky you can find great villa for an affordable price.Ask Locals they know well the villas market.

Bungalow:

This is a good solution for enjoy holiday with a family, friends or for a couple. It’s cheaper than a villa and it’s authentic. Made from wood you will really feel in holiday with a swimming pool and most of the time not so far from the beach.

Prices: from 200 000Rp/night to 2 000 000 Rp/month.

 

Foods

Here a price list of meals that you can find in bali. cheapest meals you can get it in warungs in the streets some of them are really good don’t be afraid you should try.And the most expansive meals you will find it in hotels and restaurant that have a better look. I have been sometimes disappointed by the food quality of these places that are expansives. Western food can be really expansive also.

Nasi goreng (Fried rice)= 7 000 Rp- 50 000Rp

Mie goreng (Fried Noodle)= 7000 Rp- 50 000Rp

Pizza= 35 000 Rp – 110 000Rp

Fish = 20 000Rp – 200 000Rp

Satay = 8 000 Rp – 60 000Rp

Padang Food= 30 000- 70 000Rp

White rice= 2 000Rp – 7 000 Rp

Small beer= 21 000Rp- 40 000Rp

Fresh Juice = 10 000Rp – 30 000Rp

 Transportation

There are different way to discover Bali. You can rent a car with a driver. You can rent a car without driver. You can rent a motorbike.You can ride taxis.

By car:

You can easily rent a car in Bali with or without driver. It’s a safe way to discover bali. the only problems that you will face would be the traffic Jam. In fact in Bali there are many traffic jam.With your car you can get stuck during 1 or 2 hours in a traffic Jam, especially on the bypass, in Kuta and Seminyak.

Prices: 1 400 000Rp/month- 3 000 000/month 

60 000Rp/day- 150 000Rp/day

By taxi:

Taxi don’t give you a good independence even if you can call a taxi when you want. We advise you to ride Blue Bird Taxi. Taxis have to use Meters, if they don’t they will charge you more. From the airport the taxi are expansive and they don’t use the Counters.But there is not others possibilities to get out from the airport when you just arrive.

Prices: Kuta-Jimbaran= 60 000Rp       Nusa dua-airport=70 000 Rp        Kuta-Ubud =140 000Rp

 

By Motorbike:

As I have written at the beggining of the article, rent a motorbike is the best way to discover Bali if you are a bit adventurer. Driving a motorbike in Bali is a Hell (See Our article : driving in Bali). Really Take Care! Please. Don’t ever think that you are the “king of the road”. You can rent a motorbike everywhere you want. Just bring your international driving license if you don’t want to drop off some changes to the corrupted police. They will ask you 100 000Rp but 30 000Rp is really enough if you smile. You can rent a motorbike with a surfboard rack.

Prices: 500 000 – 700 000 Rp/month       30 000Rp -45 000Rp/day

 

Leisures

In Bali many things are possible to do. Here a list of prices:

Surfboard rental50 000/hours depending on the places.

Surf lessons = 250 000 Rp – 500 000Rp/lesson

Cinema = 30 000-40 000Rp 

Temple entrance fee = 10 000Rp-20 000 Rp

Waterpark = 100 000 Rp -150 000Rp

Snorkeling tools = 30 000Rp/hours

 Snorkeling with guide = 100 000 -150 000 Rp/Hours  

Others

Parking Fee = 2 000Rp – 7000Rp

Fuel = 6 000 Rp/L  (in march 2012)
