Public center call

We name it WarTel (Warung + Telpon) from a wartel you can call and receive phone call from anywhere. Most of them are opened from 8 am to 11 pm some of them are opened 24 hours.We can find them everywhere in Bali even in remote areas. They are useful to make a call in a quiet place without paying excessive price (the price is display and a ticket is printed)

Handphone

If you are planing to stay and if you have an unlocked phone you can buy a local SIM card. This is the easiest and cheapest way for local communications especially SMS.

Internet

You can be connected to Bali Happenings from almost every touristic area in Bali (bars, warung, Shops, …) but the Wifi is not available in every corners. You will find easily a Warnet a place where you can sit down in front of a screen connected to the net for a really cheap price. After beach time the warnet are crowded.

Driving in Bali

A Motorbike is the best way to enjoy the Balinese freedom. Riding a bike make your journey different in fact you don’t get stuck in the traffic jam for hours, you go where and when you want and you will get lost. Getting lost is a part of the balinese culture don’t worry. It’s also the cheapest transport: 35 000 Rp/day or 600 000 Rp/month.

A Car is a safety way to discover Bali. We advise you to hire a local driver because driving a car in Bali is quite hard. To rent a car without driver cost 80 000 Rp /day with a driver 100 000 Rp/day exclude gasoil.

Driving license

Bring your international driving license. The police is a bit corrupted but it’ s changing and don’t play too much with the police.

The money and the tips

The national money is the Indonesian Rupiah 12 000 Rp = 1 euro , 9 000 Rp = 1 USD. Dollars and euros are accepted in the touristic area but the exchange rate is higher.

If possible don’t exchange your money in the airport, the commissioning is higher than everywhere in Bali.

Wherever you want you can get cash from an ATM with a Mastercard,Visa, Amex,… You will be charged 3% depending on your bank and the ATM. Prefer ATM that allow you to get 3 000 000 Rp rather than 1 500 000 Rp to avoid extra charges.

In Bali, tips are common.Some restaurants or bars charge you 10 – 15% for service charge but some others don’t.In the airport for the porters and other service like this they get paid with tips.

Bali Life’s cost

The Balinese life is cheap if you accept to be a bit adventurer.For eating you can find whatever you want.But keep in mind that the western food is more expansive than the local food. As an average we can say that you will spend per meal per person: 50 000 Rp with a drink. You can easily eat for a cheaper price if you dare!

There are many “gastronomic” restaurants where you can spend 120 000-150 000 Rp/person.
